*If you have the image file make sure you select 'burn IMAGE to dvd' when you burn your dvd.*
Step 1:Turn on the system and enter into your BIOS. (To enter into the BIOS press F8 or F2 or del this varies from system to system)
Step 2:In the BIOS go to the BOOT option and give highest priority to CD/DVD drive or USB drive depending on what media you use for installation.
*STEP 1 & 2 are completely system dependent so carefully read instructions on screen.DO NOT TAMPER WITH THE BIOS THIS MAY HAVE DANGEROUS CONSEQUENCES.
Step 3:Insert the dvd\pendrive then save and close the BIOS.(read the options on your screen to save and exit)
System will now restart. A screen with options will be displayed choose the first option(boot live cd) wait till the OS has loaded,this may take sometime.
Step 4:Double click on "install live custom cd" which appears on the desktop.select forward for the dialogs that appear.
Step 5:Select "install ubuntu along side another operating system". (make sure you have atleast 50gb free space on your C drive) IN CASE YOU CHOOSE "REPLACE CURRENT OS" ALL DATA ON C DRIVE WILL BE FORMATTED!! IF YOU ARE FAMILIAR WITH NEW PARTITIONS GO AHEAD AND CHOOSE THE THIRD OPTION.
Step 6:A window showing two partitions appears,you can use your mouse to drag the slider in the middle and pick the relative sizes on your hard drive that windows and ubuntu will take up respectively.Preferably give equal space for both the partitions.
Step 7:click on install now.A warning window will be displayed to confirm your settings,click on continue.
The installation procedure begins.You will be asked details about yourself and also about the keyboard you have. Once installation is complete restart your system.
